For the start of my cyanotype project, I have decided to make digital transparencies of silhouettes to expose onto the paper. The photos I took depict parts of a life at home to relate to how we have been living during this past year during COVID-19. I took photos of my parents dancing, drinking wine, and reading. I also have pictures of my sister playing with a friend and my mom holding my little sister's face. All of these photos are very calm and playful but hopefully also show feeling and personality. On Monday of this week, I did the first step of the cyanotype process and coated the cotton paper with the two chemicals. I let that sit and dry in a dark closet for 24 hours. I have just now set the transparent images on top of each piece of paper and covered them all with a sheet of glass. Since I have pretty thin images, I think I will let them sit out for about 30 min to an hour and check on them periodically.
